17. jaan. 2013

The Estonian Film Festival Australia (EFFA) and Sydney Eesti Selts (SES) are proud to present....
KiNO! #13 @ Estonian House Sydney on Friday, the 25th of January, 2013!

Kino! @ Estonian House Sydney, Friday 25th of January

kino! is changing!!

As part of our new format, we will be showing either a single feature or documentary film, or a series of shorts during our film nights.
Instead of starting at 6:30pm like we used to, we will now be starting at 7pm - to take the pressure off getting there early. We want you to be relaxed when you arrive :)
Doors will still open at 6pm so you have time to grab a bite and a drink before taking in our film/s for the night.
Because we won't be showing a short film before, we will also be finishing a little earlier as well. But that's ok, because you can stick around for a social drink afterwards as the bar will stay open!
19:00 - 20:42

'Üks mu sõber' (A Friend of Mine) - [G] 2012
Genre: Drama

Fresh from our first Estonian Film Festival Australia, we bring you a film that was set be on the program but was cut at the last minute due to time schedule issues with Eesti Päevad 2012.
So as promised in December of 2012, we finally bring you 'A Friend of Mine' in 2013!
This film is a warm expression of solitude and friendship played out between funny old men in an ennobled setting of books.
Mati (Aarne Üksküla) is a passionate bibliophile who works for his hobby - he has a job at the library. The little rest of his time he shares with his sweet wife. Then one sudden day brings the death of his spouse. A whole life of stability crashes. Nor his adolescent daughter or dear books are of any help. Loneliness and indifference overrun his life and Mati plots suicide.
A strange wayfarer Sass (Aleksander Eelmaa), who travels with a backpack of books and frequents public libraries to read the newspapers, brings forth a change. Bit by bit he starts to provide Mati with the interest for life again.
And remember:
bring a friend, bring a relative even if they are non-Estonian speaking because ALL FILMS HAVE ENGLISH SUB-TITLES!!! EVERYBODY is invited!
Doors open from 6pm.

SES members - $5
Non members - $7

Remember to keep your door ticket as one lucky viewer will win free entry for next months KINO night!!!
Whether its for one film or both your donation towards cultural activities of SES is appreciated.
Finger food and bar service will be available on the night.
All proceeds from the door go towards kino! @ Eesti Maja and the Estonian Film Festival, Australia 2014.
