Our contributors also write about their environment and life from all around the world from the Estonian perspective. We are also interviewing non-Estonians who are somehow connected or interested in her affairs – so far we have interviewed Edward Lucas, the international editor of The Economist, as well as British MP Sir Malcolm Bruce and composer Brian Eno.
Why Estonian World? Many nations are successful in connecting their people and promoting their "story" with various media outlets around the world, but there's currently no English language equivalent for Estonians. Yet there have been many reasons in recent years to do so – Estonians developed the Skype and are currently behind more start-up businesses per capita than any other nation in Europe. Estonia has also produced world class writers, composers and singers – many of whom are yet to emerge from the increasingly global, younger generation. Increasingly, there are also people around the world who have done or doing business with Estonia, or who follow her culture and affairs.
These are the reasons why we created Estonian World webzine – not to be a nationalistic or political voice, but rather to be a global focal point for cosmopolitan Estonians, and for those interested in the development of Estonia, be it a technology, business, or culture. We have no partisan political affiliation and seek to present the stories fair-mindedly.
Although we are only 4 months old, we have already attracted a loyal international following, with readers from over 100 countries; our Facebook page has gathered over 1300 fans and it has already become customary that our stories are shared by other social media outlets around the world.
We are now hiring content contributors and writers from all around the world. Although we are London-based, we are aiming for a global reach – something that we are already about to achieve, as we have large readerships in US, Germany, Canada, Australia, Belgium and Italy, to name but few.
Ideally you would be writing for at least once a month – it could be about your experience; about social, cultural and business events in your environment; about other active and entrepreneurial Estonians and feature stories. It could be well suited for an Estonian (media)student building up his/her media portfolio, but we are not building barricades. Please send us an email for further details at
Kuigi vaid 5 kuud vana, oleme me kasvanud jõudsasti ning lugejaid on juba üle 100st riigist. Twitteris jälgib meid ka President Ilves ning Edward Lucas on FB fännide seas.
Meil on tekkinud väga soojad suhted Eesti saatkondadega Londonis ning Washingtonis, kes on meid ka moraalselt toetanud. Nüüd soovime me ennast laiemalt tutvustada Austraalia eestlaskonnale ning samuti otsida kaasautoreid Austraaliast.
